Based on the waste heat recovery concept developed by Gammel Engineering for the efficient use of exhaust gases from the expansion of the aluminum smelting plant at the BMW site in Landshut, the Siemens/Müller consortium is building a heat recovery system as part of an energy-saving contracting project. The surplus heat from the melting furnaces is fed into the plant's internal hot water network. Process cooling is generated via two absorption chillers with a total cooling capacity of approx. 2.0 MW and fed into the cold water network
At the same time, the existing energy center will be expanded to include an additional CHP unit with an electrical output of 2.68 MW. The overall planning for the realization of the construction project is being carried out by Gammel Engineering.
