CHP connected to the grid at OSRAM in Eichstätt
A natural gas CHP unit with 2 MWel and 2 MW waste heat as well as an absorption chiller (AKM) with 750 kW cooling capacity are installed in the new energy center in the middle of the industrial plant. The CHP covers the electrical base load (approx. 50 %). The site produces 380 million light bulbs in 3 shifts throughout the year.
The waste heat is fed into the existing heating network and covers approx. 90 % of the heating requirements.
The CHP also supplies an absorption chiller. A new 13/19 °C cooling network will be installed throughout the entire facility. The centrally generated cooling is intended to cover the base load of the 32 compression chillers distributed throughout the plant.
